Apple Pie

My family is huge on cooking and baking so I’ll share various recipes of the food I made…. I recently baked an apple pie for the first time; below I shared the recipe and hopefully you can make your own!!!

Recipe makes 1 - 9 inch pie

Ingredients
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar, cinnamon, brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.
  2. Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.
  3. Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F. Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

Fight against Cancer

I wanted to dedicate a special part of my page towards family and friends who are going through a great deal of pain because their loved ones are suffering from Cancer.  My older cousin’s just lost a mother figure from Lupus and her stepmother is suffering from stage 4 Colorectal cancer and my best friend’s mother is suffering from stage 4 Breast Cancer and her cousin is currently in remission from his cancer.

Breast cancer is cancer that starts in the tissues of the breast.

Colorectal cancer is cancer that starts in the colon or the rectum.

Cancer strikes with little reason. It does not discriminate and chooses it victims regardless of wealth or social status. It has a cruel way of robbing one of their dignity, self-respect, and independence. It can be physically and financially draining, oftentimes stealing one's hope and joy. In short, it can be very difficult to cope with Cancer.

………… So knowing this how do you become your family members or best friend confidant??? How do you know what to say??? How can you make your loved ones feel better knowing it’s nothing you can say or do to make things alright again??? Why is the only thing I can offer is a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to cry on??? Why isn’t there a prevention program or at least a cure??? How can I have the RIGHT to be happy, the RIGHT to be sad, or the RIGHT to be anything knowing that my loved ones are handling wwwwaaaaaayyyyyyy more than any person should ever have to bare??? How can I still be selfish enough to miss the company of my cousin or miss the company of my best friend when they are trying save the lives of the individuals who means most to them…. Cancer is a bitch!!!! And the messed up thing about it is it’s nothing I can do about it… Googling the right thing to say hasn’t seemed to do much. Praying seems to do everything but not always in the answers we expect. So what next???

Best Friends Forever

Everybody needs one of these

                                                                                                                      a BESTIE!!!!!!!!

This is my BEST FRIEND BRITTANY!!! We've been friends for nine years now!!! I can’t believe in another year we would have been best friends for a solid ten years!!! I’m determined to take a vacation for a ten year anniversary (no homo lol). Time to get our passports ready!!!!!
Britters is a great friend and you can’t get any better than her even when she gets on my nerves hehehe.

Crazy enough she’s the one who inspired me to create this bloggers page… Not necessarily to get readers or viewers but simply to give me an outlet to express myself Ashley Nicole.
But everyone needs a friend like her we’ve been through everything together from love to heartbreaks, lakefront trips to popcorn and cookie dough nights, family trouble to family functions, high school to college, and then the real world TOGETHER. Lucky for us it’s only the beginning! We still have to get through finishing our education, becoming successful career women, being each other brides’ maid, becoming godmother to our future children and whatever else the future entails. But that is what it’s all about…. Friendship that will never end!!!
